Questions before you download?
Is the app free?
Yes. Downloading the app and using the high-risk area alerts costs nothing. Optional plans (weekly, monthly and monthly with AI) unlock extra features, such as the MaIA assistant. If you subscribe, you can cancel anytime in the App Store or Google Play.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Alerts work without signing in. You only need an account to subscribe to a plan or chat with MaIA.
Where does the high-risk area data come from?
Part of it comes from public safety data and news reports, from sources such as Instituto Fogo Cruzado and @OperacoesRio, a profile that posts police operations and road closures. The rest comes from people who use the app, and their reports are moderated before they show up on the map.
Does it replace Waze or Google Maps?
Your call. You can use Vem Tranquilo as your GPS for the trip, with voice navigation and alerts on the map, or keep it running in the background so it warns you about high-risk areas while you use Waze or Google Maps.
Where does the app work?
Anywhere in the state of Rio de Janeiro, not just the city. It does not cover other Brazilian states yet.
What do you do with my location?
We use it to calculate your route and warn you when there is a high-risk area along the way. We follow LGPD, Brazil's data protection law, and you can ask us to delete your account and data whenever you want. Our Privacy Policy (in Portuguese) has the details.
